Music legends heading for Youngstown

August 31, 2017 by

Two of the legends of the music industry, Judy Collins and Stephen Stills, will appear together later this year in Youngstown.

The singer-songwriters first met in the 1960s, and had a tumultuous two-year relationship. Stills immortalized her in ‘Suite: Judy Blue Eyes’, which Crosby, Stills & Nash performed on their debut album.

Other hits from Stills include ‘For What It’s Worth’, and ‘Love the One You’re With’. Stills plays a variety of instruments, composes, and has been ranked as #28 by Rolling Stone Magazine in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Collins’ music tends to span various musical genres, and three of her biggest hits are ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Send in the Clowns’, and ‘Both Sides Now’. She has been nominated for five Grammys and won once, and was nominated again in 2017. Besides her work in the music industry, Collins has written a novel, two memoirs, and was nominated for an Oscar in 1975 for ‘Antonia: A Portrait of the Woman’, a documentary she produced.

Given their history, it will surprise many that these two artists have yet to share a stage. They will remedy that at 7:30 pm on October 15, at Youngstown’s DeYor Performing Arts Center. Tickets are on sale now either online and at the box office.

Fans love to collect memorabilia, so organizers could work with a poster printing company to create posters to sell at shows like this.
