Piedmont puts on yearly craft event

It is almost time to celebrate the artisanship of some of the finest craftsmen in the Triad.

In mid-November, Piedmont Craftsmen, an organization founded in 1963, will be celebrating its 53rd Annual Craft Fair. The fair will showcase the work of over 100 artists from all over the Southeast. The event is noted for its relaxed, welcoming ambience in which shoppers get to meet the craftsmen and discuss their work. There are also educational and enlightening demonstrations performed on the scene.

Exhibiting craftsmen work with a variety of resources; some in clay and wood, with others in glass, leather, fibers, metal, photography, mixed media, and printmaking. The end products are handmade home goods, wearables, jewelry, furniture and decorative items that can be purchased by the guests. Displaying artisans and event organizers might benefit from banners and flyers to set up the event, to explain the products, and further promote the craftsmanship of the artists.

Members of the organization will have an opportunity to preview the works on the night prior to the event, at which there will be live music, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and the opportunity to have the first choice on the exhibited products. The preview and the fair will respectively take place on November 18, 19, and 20, at the MC Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem.
