A production opening soon in Wilmington will be the North American premiere of the play.

‘The War of the Roses’, a dark comedy based on the 1989 film, which was in turn based on a book published in 1981, chronicles the battle between Jonathan and Barbara Rose, a married couple who go from a happy marriage to a bitter divorce.

The production is the season opener for the Delaware Theatre Company, which is the only company in Delaware that develops new works with the aim of transferring them to Broadway. Bud Martin, the company’s executive director, says audiences will appreciate the actors and the way the physical production is presented.

The cast includes Christina DeCicco as Barbara Rose. She appeared in ‘Evita’ and the ‘Wicked’ national tour. Thurmont is played by Cameron Folmar, who appeared in ‘The 39 Steps’ both on- and Off-Broadway. Jack Noseworthy, who was in ‘A Chorus Line’ on Broadway and in the film ‘Event Horizon’, plays Jonathan Rose; and Lenny Wolpe, a veteran of the Broadway shows ‘Wicked’ and ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’, appears as Goldstein.

The star-studded production opens September 17 at 8:00 pm, with previews starting September 14. The show is at the Delaware Theatre Company on Water Street in Wilmington.

Companies such as these can benefit by working with poster printing companies, which can create colorful placards for productions. These can also be offered as collectibles.
