Studio near Williston Park to cater to soon-to-be married

A new dance studio, scheduled to open in Mineola, near Williston Park, will soon help engaged couples learn the footwork they need to impress guests at their weddings.

The studio got approval from the Village Board at the beginning of February and is set to open in a space Columbus Parkway and East Jericho Turnpike. The space has been empty for the past two years.

The studio’s owner, Kyle Volkof, also owns the Dance Reverie Studio in Forest Hills, Queens. Volkof was inspired to open the second space after getting a number of inquiries from people in Nassau County who wanted to learn to dance, but did not want to make the long drive to Queens.

Dance studios can use postcard printing to get the word out about a new opening to past clients and to customers who have expressed interest, but who have not yet committed to lessons.

The Long Island studio is going to provide private, individual dance lessons to engaged couples. Before the studio got approval from the board, members of the board asked Volkof a number of questions about its planned hours and the potential for noise disturbances.

Since Volkof only plans to open the studio from 5:00 until 9:00 pm on weekdays and will use a sound system that is similar to a home stereo, the board’s trustees determined that his studio would be very non-intrusive and would not bother the neighbors.
