Mellow Mushroom and more to open in Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg recently announced new companies will be moving into the historic district’s Merchants Square, among them the Mellow Mushroom. The company, officially known as Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, hopes to open its new space by mid-2018. It will occupy a 3,800 square-foot space, that includes a 1,000 square-foot patio, located in the Henry Street Shops. Mellow Mushroom sells salads, calzones, and gourmet pizzas, as well as craft beers.

Michele Mixner DeWitt said that the Economic Development Authority, as well as the city, helped with the costs of renovating the Shops so that the Mellow Mushroom could build its patio.

Two more merchants are locating their operations in the square; Williamsburg Winery and Modvintique Interiors. The winery recently opened its tasting room on the Duke of Gloucester Street, between two stores that have been on the street for years: The Precious Gem and R. Bryant Limited, a men’s shop. The tasting room offers 1,300 square feet.

Still to open is Modvintique Interiors, which is moving to permanent quarters on South Henry Street later this year. The brick-and-mortar store is the outgrowth of a successful pop-up store that operated during the 2016 holiday season. Debbie McCarter, who is a designer and interior decorator, owns the store, and uses her knowledge of many different styles to help her customers realize the sophisticated interiors they prefer.

When companies like this relocate, they can work with stationery printers to make sure their letterhead is up-to-date.
