Westerville announces schedule for leaf collection

September 29, 2017 by

Westerville has confirmed the schedule the city will use to pick up leaves this fall.

Residents may wait and take advantage of this program, or they may dispose of leaves themselves, by including them with their yard waste.

If they decide to use the city’s services, they need to be aware of the guidelines. The city will collect leaves five different times, and do so from each residence at least once during the 7-10 day period after dates are assigned. The assignments are made by street, and the information about which streets will be picked up on which days is available on the city’s website.

Residents who want leaves picked up need to rake them into the area between the street and the sidewalk, known as the tree lawn, by 7:00 am on the date assigned. Leaves are not to be raked into the street itself. In addition, to avoid damaging equipment and slowing down the collection process, the city asks that the leaves should not have any debris, trash, twigs, or sticks in them. Cars should not park in front of the leaf piles on collection days.

Leaf collection will take place during the period October 16 to December 22.

Measures like this that impact an entire community can thrive if officials work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents, explaining the procedures.
