Westerville adds to Fourth Fridays

April 21, 2017 by

Every fourth Friday from late April through September, Westerville is holding its Mount Carmel St. Ann’s 4th Friday Celebrations.

The event runs from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm featuring live entertainment, food, and street vendors, and draws people to the city’s Historic Uptown District.

This year, for the first time, the AAA Ohio Auto Club is offering a shuttle service between the Visitors Bureau (about a block from Uptown) and the Westerville Senior Center (where there’s extra parking). The van, which holds 12, will run every 15 minutes, and those who use the service can meet the van at the Visitors’ Bureau at the end of the evening for the return trip.

The Visitors’ Bureau’s executive director, Jeff Hartnell, said the shuttle is a service people have been asking about for some time. The first few months of its operation will enable the city to gauge its effectiveness and refine the schedule, particularly with regard to where people should meet the shuttle for the return trip to the senior center.

Also new this year is ‘4th Friday Stories’ offered by the Westerville Public Library. Families are invited to the library before fourth Friday, from 5:15 pm until 5:45 pm, to hear stories.

This year, the Fourth Fridays get started April 28. Events like this can get a healthy boost if officials work with a postcard printing company to create a card explaining the new features of the event.
