Puyallup families are able to take take the 35 minute ride to the Schilter Family Harvest Festival over the next few weeks and enjoy some seasonal fun.

Adults and children can pick pumpkins, enjoy the hour long stroll through the five-acre corn maze and take covered hay rides around the pumpkin patch. Grown-ups can walk through the Busy Bee Perennial Garden as the kids play in the nearby playground.

A hay maze in the old barn has been fashioned from bales, targeting the three through nine-year-old crowd. Also in the old barn is the Hay Jump, at which kids can bury each other and jump into loose hay. Youngsters can also enjoy the Kids Korral, a play area including pedal tractors, pumpkin bowling, duck races, and a scarecrow castle.

The petting area will allow children to visit kittens, sheep, piglets, calves, ducks, and bunnies. Those wishing to advertise the event may contact printing companies for banner printing services.

At weekends, families can ride the Round-Up Railway Cow Train, shoot the Pumpkin Blaster or fire the Corn Cannons. When the weather is favorable, children can ride a pony. Also only on weekends, the Schilter’s Tasty Treats Barn will be open selling homemade items such as caramel apples, pumpkin, various ciders, and a host of cooked or roasted treats.

The festival runs through October 30 with regular hours of 10:00 am -6:00 pm. On Halloween Day, October 31, it will run from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. It is being held at the Schilter Family Farm, 141 Nisqually Road, Olympia.
