University and Habitat for Humanity teaming up for fundraiser

In under two weeks’ time, Utah Valley University in Orem will be hosting its sixth annual ‘No Snow Indoor 5K Run/Walk’. This event will again be held in partnership with the Utah County chapter of Habitat for Humanity and proceeds will go entirely toward building a new home for a local family in need.

Brochure printers will likely be used to create promotional and informational material for the day of the fundraiser, as participants of all ages will have a chance to get some exercise while making their way through the hallways of the university. Those who arrive to run or walk will also be able to choose between a course that involves stairs and one that does not. The actual length of each course will be 3.1 miles.

Interested parties may register early through the Utah County Habitat for Humanity website for $10. Participants may also register in person for $15 on the morning of the event. Children under the age of eight will receive free admittance and, after the race, all attendees will have the opportunity to pick up a T-shirt and eat a pancake breakfast for no additional cost.

The run/walk will start at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 26. It will begin at the Sorensen Student Center, which is located at 800 West University Parkway. Participants are encouraged to use the Lakeside Visitor Parking Lot or any of the lots marked ‘L’.

Those who would like more information may call Utah Valley University’s Volunteer and Service-Learning Office at (801) 863-8786.
