Victorian Christmas at the John Tigard House Museum

November 28, 2012 by

The Victorian Christmas at the John Tigard House Museum has arranged a special surprise for those who visit this year. Santa will be making an appearance at the venue a little bit earlier than usual to greet guests on the front porch and exchange warm seasonal greetings with all the guests at this open house.

John Tigard House is a three-room Carpenter Gothic Victorian building that was constructed in 1880. The house is located at the corner of Gaarde Street and Pacific Highway. Although plans were in place to demolish this building in the 1970s, the Tigard Historical Association saved and restored it, with the completion of the restoration being in 1979. Today, the house carries a National Historic Places title and is located at the corner of SW 103rd Street and SW Canterbury Lane, operated by the Tigard Historic Association.

At this year’s Victorian Christmas Open House, guests will be able to enjoy fully decorated trees, festive garlands, and skating scene ornaments from eras gone by as they tour the house. A cookie decorating session is planned for the children and everyone will receive candy canes.

Poster printing and flyer printing may have been used to advertise this open house to residents of this community and surrounding areas. Admission is free, adding to what should be a great family event. The Victorian Christmas Open House will be happening on Saturday, December 1 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at John Tigard House Museum located at the corner of Canterbury Lane and 103rd Street in Tigard, Oregon. To learn more about this tour, please visit the Tigard Historical Association or call during business hours.
