Portland gets ready to celebrate art and crafts

The Local 14 Fine Art and Craft Show and Sale is carrying the theme of ‘Fins, Feathers, and Fur’ this year, while offering a fundraising shopping event for people of all ages.

This four-day showcase features an opening celebration and silent auction on the first night, and is to benefit the show and the scholarship program offered by Local 14. It provides people with the opportunity to view artworks by emerging and evolving artists, and is now celebrating the 46th annual function.

At this show, guests will view artistry in paper and poetry, dolls, quilts, wood, wearable arts, weaving, metalwork, basketry, jewelry, glass, pottery, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and painting. This is a creative way to give back to the community and, on the opening night, guests will enjoy light appetizers and wine while they stroll around the grounds. It might even give ideas to people working for graphic design or print companies in the area.

Forty-six years ago, a group of 14 women started the Oswego Crafts and Arts League, which now goes by the name Local 14, while today more than 45 members participate.

A donation of $5 is requested to attend. The Local 14 Fine Art and Craft Show and Sale will be happening from Thursday, October 3, until Sunday, October 6, beginning at 6:00 pm Thursday, and 10:00 am all other days at the Miller Hall located at 4033 SW Canyon Road in Portland, Oregon. To learn more about this event, please visit its website or call the Miller Hall at 403-488-2101.
