Gourmet festival celebrates the country of Spain

June 29, 2017 by

La Ruda PDX: A Gastronomic Festival is taking place next month in Portland for four days. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Portland Kitchen.

The festival is an industry and trade-focused event that will celebrate the food of Spain. Chefs from both Spain and Portland will be holding a series of collaborative dinners, hosting seminars, and providing tastings of their food. Some of the chefs who will be participating are Manuel Alonso from Valencia and David Ramos of Madrid.

There will also be panel discussions and presentations by Spanish winemakers. The seminars will be about wine, sidra (Spanish cider), and sherry, with tickets ranging from $10 to $25 each.

The festival will start off with a premiere to be held at the Portland Art Museum on July 13. Guests will see a screening of the film ‘Soul’, enjoy a cocktail party with tapas, and be treated to a cheese and dessert reception. Tickets are $50 each.

The trade show will be held at Plaza del Toro. Visitors can pick up product samples, take part in a raffle, and enjoy an oil painting exhibit.

Printed invitations, perhaps obtained from a Portland stationery printing company, are often mailed to people in the food industry before an event like this.

La Ruta PDX will be held at various venues in Portland from July 13 to 16. For more information, visit the official event website.
