A berry good time to be had in Portland

The Blackberry Bluegrass and Country Harvest Festival is coming up this Saturday, September 1, and will be held at the Portland Pumpkin Farm and Bella Organic located at 16205 N. W. Gillihan Road in Portland, Oregon. This event will begin at 10:00 am and run until 10:00 pm.

This two-day festival takes place each year to celebrate the harvesting of blackberries and the coming of fall. Proceeds from this event will be to benefit ‘The Struble Foundation’, providing funding for heart research.

The event is also about organic growing and will highlight all the wonderful things you can do with blackberries. There will be food carts offering everything imaginable, as well as organically-grown produce, vegetarian options, wine, and micro-brews. There will be all types of entertainment including a children’s area offering face painting, hay rides, a cow train, petting zoo, bounce castle, and pony rides.

Over the course of the weekend, 12 bands will be there for the listening enjoyment of guests. Saturday’s musical entertainment includes Switchgrass, Foghorn Stringband, and The Handson Family Singer, while Sunday’s guests will be treated to performances from Jackstraw, Sammy Steele Band, and Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising, among other acts.

Poster printing and flyer printing were probably used to promote this annual celebration of the juicy purple fruit to families in Portland and other surrounding communities. Admission to this event is $10 per person. To learn more about the Bluegrass and Harvest Festival, please visit the website or call 503-621-9545.
