Parents who are expecting to give birth to a child this year in a Providence hospital should also expect to receive a custom-designed blanket, compliments of the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC soccer teams.

Both of the teams recently announced their partnership with Providence Health & Services to provide fleece blankets with club-themed designs to newborn babies born at Providence hospitals

The president of business for both of the soccer teams, Mike Golub, said about the blankets:

“We are proud to be able to offer the newest members of our community and their families a small gift from the Timbers and Thorns as they celebrate this momentous occasion together.”

The regional director of perinatal services for Providence Health & Services, Laurel Durham, also commented:

“Welcoming a new baby is an incredibly exciting time for our patients. This is a wonderful gift to help families mark this special time in their lives.”

Babies welcomed to the world in Providence hospitals, which are located in Oregon City, Hood River, Seaside, Portland, Newberg, and Medford, will be receiving these custom-designed blankets until this year is over.
