The Great Reno Balloon Race to celebrate its 32nd year

The Great Reno Balloon Race is coming to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park this September for its 32nd year.

The race has been a much anticipated annual event in the Reno-Sparks area in Northern Nevada since 1982, when it began with just 20 balloons. Today, the event is the largest free hot air balloon race in the world and consists of over 100 balloons.

The event will take place about 20 miles north of Sparks and is expected to draw over 150,000 spectators. In 1998 the “Glow Show” was added to the festivities, which consists of the balloon pilots lighting their balloons before the sun comes up, as early as 5:00 am, as they wait for the Dawn Patrol.

The even has grown to such magnitude that the majority of hotels and motels in Northern Nevada sell out by early summer. Many private events will be held in conjunction with the balloon race.

Although ample parking will be made available, the event fills up quickly before sunrise so it is recommended that spectators arrive early, and either carpool or use public transportation.

Poster printing is a task performed by print companies for events such as this one. Posters are generally printed on large heavy stock on one side and in full color. A gloss finish is attractive and protects the ink. When placed strategically, they draw a lot of interest.

Sponsors are a critical part of this event, which will take place between September 6 and 8, since there is no charge to the public to attend.
