In time for the festive season, the City of Sparks will come alive with the celebration of the Sparks Hometowne Christmas 26th annual event. It takes place in Victorian Square in downtown Sparks.

Festivities begin at around 6:30 pm on November 30, as the 50-foot tree is lit. The tree is located on the front side of Saint Mary’s Amphitheater. The lighting of the three will end at 7:00 pm as attendees enjoy free hot chocolate and holiday cookies.

The celebration continues the next day, starting with the Christmas Parade from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The parade will consist of over 95 marching bands and floats, dancing horses, and car clubs.

A special surprise is planned for the children attending the event. Santa will arrive to greet children from during the afternoon and his visitors are requested to bring a can of food or a $1 donation in support of the Evelyn Mount’s Community outreach canned food drive, held during the Hometowne Christmas event.

There will be a Hometowne Craft Faire held in the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center, with many vendors displaying and selling unique arts and crafts.

Local printing companies routinely work with organizers of events such as this one in supplying marketing and promotional materials. Flyer printing is a frequent project in advance of the event, as flyers can be distributed throughout the region to attract interest and increase attendance.
