Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce Hosting Speed Networking Event

On December 1, 2011, the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Chamber Speed Networking event. Putting an interesting twist on the concept of “speed dating”, this event is sure to put a smile on the faces of everyone who attends. As per the website, the rules are listed as follows:

“…You have 2 minutes to introduce yourself and tell your story…then the person across from you has 2 minutes to do the same…then at the whistle everyone stands up and you move on to the next person…”

The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and lunch is supposed to be served to those in attendance. Momentarily putting aside the light-hearted aspect of Chamber Speed Networking, this is an opportunity that can be used to a company’s advantage. Assuming that an individual meets one person once every 4 minutes, that’s almost 8 people for every half an hour spent networking the speedy way. Armed with a supply of top-quality business card printing, a business owner can conceivably leave this event with over 10 more professional contacts than before.

Members are asked to pay $20 to participate while non-members will be charged $30. The first 15 minutes are going to be spent dealing with registration. The actual networking portion takes place from 11:45 to 12:45 with lunch taking up the remainder of the event. Due to the nature of Chamber Speed Networking, the organizers do request that participants arrive on time. All in all, Speed Networking at the Chamber is a fun way to interact with other members of the local business community.
