UC Davis has plans to expand into the area near West Sacramento.

At the beginning of April, the university and the city of Sacramento announced plans to build a new technology and innovation campus, near Oak Park.

The new campus will be located on the property of the university’s medical center. Dubbed Aggie Square, it will be situated on a parcel of 25 acres. The university had already set the land aside for use as an innovation and research district.

The long-term plan is to have the campus eventually include as much as a million square feet of space for research, parks, and entertainment. There is also the possibility of adding housing on land that borders the campus.

Schools and cities that announce grand plans can use banner printing to let the public know about what is in store for a particular area.

The inspiration for the campus comes from Atlanta, where there is a similar campus called Technology Square. Technology Square is an entertainment and academic district that takes up several blocks.

Although the plan was recently announced, it will be a few years before it is finally completed. It’s also expected to come with a high price tags. City and university officials are anticipating a cost potentially in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Nonetheless, it is expected that the campus would bring an influx of jobs into the area and would provide a great opportunity for people who call the Oak Park neighborhood home.
