Springtime will be shredding time in Vero Beach

March 26, 2017 by

The Indian River County Solid Waste Disposal District has partnered with Southeast Secure Shredding to lend Vero Beach residents a helping hand with their spring cleaning efforts.

The community has planned a document shredding event that is open and free of charge for all local households. Each vehicle will be able to bring as many as three 35lb bags or boxes of documents and other materials they would like to have shredded for security reasons. The shredded paper will then be recycled into other paper-based materials.

Those who plan on bringing items to the event for disposal are reminded that, while paper clips and staples do not have to be removed, the shredding equipment is not suitable for other objects, such as hanging file folder clips or binders. People are asked to remember to remove items like these as they can cause damage to the blades. Banners and other promotional products can help to let the public know that an activity such as this is taking place so that they can participate.

The event will be taking place on April 8 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm at Southeast Secure Shredding, which is located at 3910 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach. Additional details and information about both the day, how the shreds will be repurposed, and recycling in general is available on the company’s website.
