Austin-area burger chain makes donation for season of caring

December 3, 2018 by

Recently, Texas burger chain Whataburger made a donation of $25,000 to the Austin Statesman Season for Caring program. Whataburger has been donating to the program since 2011 and so far contributed $228,000 to the cause.

The goal of Season for Caring is to help Austin-area families. A dozen families from the area are chosen to be featured families, and among this year’s selection are the Harouns, who moved to the US from Sudan in 2014, and the Murorunkweres, who came to the US in 2016, after spending time in a camp for refugees in Rwanda. The families were nominated for the program by Austin-based organizations.

Companies that plan on donating funds to area charities and nonprofits can use flyer printing to let their employees and customers know about the programs, and to encourage others to give.

Speaking to Austin360, Lynne Dobson, the daughter of the founder of Whataburger, said:

“Whataburger deeply appreciates what Season for Caring does for families in the Austin area. The Whataburger teams in Austin are thankful for the opportunity to give this donation.”

Since it was founded in 1950, Whataburger, has worked to build up the communities it serves. One way it does so is by donating money to and raising money for local nonprofits and charitable organizations such as this one.
