Winston-Salem prepares for film celebration

The 2019 RiverRun International Film Festival will celebrate 21 years with the opening of the event in Winston-Salem this spring.

Touted as one of the fastest-growing regional film festivals in the country, RiverRun is also a premier film event in the Southeast. The festival showcases a variety of genres, disciplines, and film importance in various categories. Documentary, narrative, animated ,and short films are some of the highlights of the festival.

The event is an Academy Award-qualifying film festival and covers movies, special events, outdoor screenings, feature length, and short films over an 11-day period utilizing a variety of venues throughout Winston-Salem.

In addition to screening a variety of films crossing all genres, the RiverRun will also present a range of other special activities, such as celebrity tributes, matinees for the family, and panel discussions. Noted filmmakers will be on hand to share their views, stories, and experiences with the audience. The festival attracts media and other public attention from across the U.S.
