Developer reveals intentions for Route 146 buildings

April 30, 2015 by

DCG Development Co., based in Clifton Park, has plans for four office buildings located on Route 146.

The developer wants to transform the offices into a restaurant, a hotel, and multi-family housing.

DCG, which has applied to work on this project before, and which owns the property under consideration, recently submitted an amended application. It wants to transform about 100,000 square feet of office space into a restaurant with 4,000 square feet, a hotel comprising 110 rooms, and 70 multi-family housing units.

The redeveloped property sits on approximately 7.5 acres. In addition, the developer also included plans for the future, when it hopes to develop as many as 120 multifamily housing units, plus a multistory commercial building comprising 60,000 square feet. DCG might propose a combination of the two on 6.8 acres, currently vacant, that lie adjacent to the property on Route 146.

DCG first proposed 200 apartments in the redevelopment project, but updated the plan recently to include commercial areas and the hotel. Two of the current office buildings would be transformed into the hotel, while housing units would be located on top of commercial space.

DCG vice president Donald MacElroy is enthusiastic about developing property in Clifton Park, which he says is in an area fast becoming attractive to high-tech companies.

DCG could work with a banner printing company on a colorful banners to hang in the various buildings on opening day.
