School bands strut to the stage

Two of Torrington High School bands will be performing this month.

Next week, The Tri-Town Band Festival will be putting on a high school band performance. Shortly after that, the Torrington High School Jazz band will be performing in the Southern New England Jazz Fest.

First on our calendars will be the Tri-Town Band Festival. The festival will have music by the Northwestern Regional and the Canton bands, along with the Torrington High School musicians.

Next, the Southern New England Jazz Fest will present six bands from the area. Each will be showcasing their talented budding musicians. Bands other than the local representation will be from Middletown, Farmington, Simsbury, Litchfield and Berlin. Each of these bands will perform for 30 minutes.

The Tri-Town Band Festival will be at the Warner Theatre, 68 Main Street here in town on Tuesday March 21. This performance will begin at 7:00 pm. Adult tickets will be $10, and student tickets will be $5.

The Southern New England Jazz Fest will be Sunday, March 26 at Infinity Music Hall Norfolk, 20 Greenwoods Rd W, Norfolk. Torrington Jazz Band and the Litchfield band will be performing in the third show at 7:00 pm, with Torrington getting proceedings underway on the hour and Litchfield following at 7:45 pm. Tickets will range from $10 to $20 per show.
