Olivette is throwing a party

June 7, 2018 by

Olivette is encouraging residents to get to know one another by hosting block parties soon as part of the Olivette Night Out.

The annual event is held every summer, and gives people the chance to meet their neighbors, as well as city officials and members of the fire and police departments, including crime prevention experts.

One person from the neighborhood can register the area for the party, which ensures that fire trucks will stop by, as will police officers. The form to register is on the city’s website.

Last year, there were ‘Night Out’ parties in 19 Olivette neighborhoods. Each celebration is planned by the residents, and last time ranged from appetizers created and served indoors, to outdoor cookouts accompanied by live bands.

The Olivette event may have been inspired by the national ‘Night Out’, which usually takes place in August. The principle is the same in that neighborhood residents get together to learn about each other, to meet their officials and members of their police and fire departments, and to build a sense of community.

The Night Out is scheduled for June 19, with the parties starting at 6:00 pm.

Organizers of events like this can make things even more festive by working with a banner printing company to create fun banners to decorate the area where the party will be held.
