Public schools of Prince George County, in which Upper Marlboro is located, are aiming to collect 10,000 backpacks than can be distributed at its annual Back-to-School Fair later this month.

Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kevin Maxwell, commented that the school system wants all students to have all their school supplies for the start of the school year in September and a new backpack in which to carry them. It is important that all children have the basic supplies they need to get on the right track for the year.

Prince George’s County Public Schools have held four ‘Stuff-A-Bus’ events during July and August so that the goal of collecting 10,000 backpacks could be reached. One of these events was held during National Night Out at the Largo Plaza Shopping Center in Upper Marlboro.

Families need to register in advance if they want to receive a backpack at the fair. There will be entertainment with an automobile showcase and a vintage baseball game, free immunizations, and information about student programs and services.

Companies often use opportunities like this to ask various printing companies to create flyers and other materials with more information about programs and services so families have something to take home with them.

The Back-to-School Fair will take place on Saturday, August 26 at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.
