New mixed-use community comes to Upper Marlboro

A new development will soon be opening in Upper Marlboro that will offer urban-style townhouses in walkable neighborhoods.

Westphalia Town Center will be a community of 6,000 acres in size that will combine homes with restaurants, shops, offices, and various outdoor amenities. There will be 75 townhouses once completed and their prices will range from $419,990 to $426,990.

Stephen Paul, executive vice president at Mid-Atlantic Builders, the company building the community, commented that it was looking to do something different to other developments. The exterior is made of brick filled with windows and an entry resembles a vestibule.

The townhouses have three levels, with three bedrooms and an open floor plan on the main level. The master bedroom has walk-in closets and a powder room. The bathroom includes a raised sink with lighting underneath and a large shower.

Other features include a mudroom, a garage big enough for two cars, and a recreation room on the entry level. The open kitchen a long, sleek center island offering working and dining space. In the island are a dishwasher and sink.

Mid-Atlantic might benefit from creating brochures about the residences and the various options for customization of the townhouse, such as adding a spa bath, configuring the recreation room as a fourth bedroom, and being able to select colors, tiles, other features.
