Torrington residents enjoy Summer Concert series

July 16, 2017 by

The City of Torrington and Torrington Parks and Recreation are just beginning their 2017 Summer Concert Series.

The concerts are free, open to the public, and occur two days a week. Everyone is invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs and sit back to enjoy a different music genre each night.

One concert will be the Farmington Valley Band, which will be playing traditional American music. Other bands playing in July will be Night Moves Band playing hits from those in today’s top 10 back to the 1950s; Group Therapy Band playing soul, R&B, funk and rock; and Eran Try Danner singing blues. Dennis Polisky & the Maestro’s Men playing polka and the Southern Voice Band, with their country tunes, will end the concerts for the month.

August will have six bands. The first one will be The Sidekick Band, which will be ‘70s acoustic rock, followed that Friday by the Torrington Symphony Orchestra Pop’s. An indie folk singer and songwriter, Belle of the Fall and a ‘60s group called ‘60s Satisfaction will perform the following week. Zolla Boys, with a modern take on traditional bluegrass, and the acoustic country sound of Whiskey, Wine & Coke will be the last two performing groups for this season. Bands may have promotional products for purchase during their performances.

The shows will be at Coe Memorial Park, 101 Litchfield Street in downtown Torrington every week on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
