Torrington gets nostalgic with Under the StreetLamp

February 20, 2017 by

Under the StreetLamp, a celebration concert of classic hits from the 1950s to the 1970s American radio songbook, will be coming to Torrington in late March. The production is presented by Star Productions with support from and thanks to CPTV.

Former lead cast members from ‘Jersey Boys’, the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit musical, will be featured. These talented singers and dancers will be belting out and crooning tight harmonies with slick dance moves that will be reminiscent of the Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford’s Rat Pack back in the 1960s.

Today’s performers Shonn Wiley, Bandon Wardell, Christopher Kale Jones, and Michael Ingersoll, are on a tour called Rockin’-Around the Clock. This is a reference to their Under the Streetlamp Special that they did for Public Television.

Poster printing for these guys harks back to flashy cars, martini shakers, and sharkskin suits. The ‘Boys’ will be singing old time Rock ‘n’ Roll, Motown, and Doo-Wop with songs from Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, The Drifters, and the Beatles. They will be doing a ‘Show stopping’ salute to the Four Seasons and their unforgettable lead singer Frankie Valli.

The two-hour performance will be Friday, March 24 on the Main Stage of the Warner Theatre, 68 Main Street, Torrington. The curtain will go up at 8:00 pm.
