Tomball invited to send some holiday cheer to troops far from home

November 29, 2017 by

This time of the year can sometime be a lonely time for military personnel who are deployed overseas, and people in the Tomball area have been invited to help fight off this holiday homesickness.

The Stockings for Soldiers initiative, which is new to the area, will see people from Tomball and the surrounding communities crafting care packages that will take the form of Christmas stockings filled with items from home. Donations of items to include in the gifts will be most appreciated, as will holiday cards that let the recipients know they are in the hearts and minds of the people back home, and also thank them for their service.

The organizers of this effort are accepting names of soldiers from the local area who are deployed or have been posted overseas and who could use some holiday cheer. The goal is to create stockings for 10 military personnel, and once they have been organized and packed for shipment, they will be shipped to the designated military members.

Anyone who would like to make a contribution to this effort has been asked to drop off their donations by no later than tomorrow, November 30. The collection point has been set as 38917 FM 1774 Rd in Magnolia. More information, including a list of the items that are most needed, can be found on the Countryairco website.
