The Colony slurps soup to feed needy

January 23, 2017 by

Residents in the Colony are loosening their belts and pulling out their spoons to get ready for the North Texas Soup-N-Bowl 2017. The event brings together restaurateurs from around the area for a delicious fundraiser that supports a worthy local cause.

Chefs from the Colony and surrounding areas have donated their signature soups and desserts to share at the occasion. Anyone who buys a ticket will be treated to all the soup they can eat as well as some dessert. The flyers also promise plenty of fun and fellowship to compliment the food. No competition will be held to judge the soups. Instead the event is meant to bring people together and shine light a local nonprofit group.

Metro Relief is a charity group that works to bring food to the needy in North Texas. The organization is all volunteer, meaning that 100% of money raised at the Soup-N-Bowl goes towards feeding poor people in the area. The group takes separate donations as well as volunteer signups on their website.

The North Texas Soup-N-Bowl will be held on January 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Cascades Conference Center, located at 5909 Stone Creek Dr. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $10 for children, or $60 for a family of up to 5. Anyone looking for more info should visit the website.
