The Colony salutes American heroes

Residents in The Colony are preparing for a very special Veteran’s Day this year as the city presents American Heroes: A Salute to Veterans Festival and Fireworks. The event provides a wide range of entertainment, activities, and more.

The festival features a full slate of musical performances, with Callahan Divide, the Rankin Twins, and Rick O’Toole all performing. The headliner on the stage is Tanya Tucker – one of the best-selling female country artists of all time and honoree in the Country Hall of Fame – who will perform a one-and-a-half-hour set.

The event will also have a full carnival, including rides, games and typical concessions like cotton candy and popcorn. A car, truck, and bike show will also be held with prizes given out for cars, trucks, and bikes based on decade, as well as special prizes for specific models like Corvettes and Mustangs. A vendor expo will also be available for local businesses to sell their wares or give out informational brochures. Other events include a Memorial Ceremony, a Heroes Ceremony, and a very large fireworks display.

The event will be held on November 5 with activities ranging in time from 8:00 am to midnight. Admission is free, though some parts of the event, such as the carnival, cost extra. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
