The Liberty by the Lake Festival takes place in July. The day-long celebration of America’s independence features competitions, concerts, activities, fireworks, and more.

The festivities begin with a 5k and a 10k that will wrap around the northern and western sides of the lake. The events are chip-timed and medals and awards will be presented for the first three male and female finishers, in each age group as well as the winner. A one mile fun run is also available which includes a goodie bag for finishing. All participants will receive a t-shirt with a special logo design for the run.

The festival will also have a business expo where local business can sell goods, give demonstrations, hand out promotional products, or even set up games for the community. A family fun zone will also be set up with carnival style rides, games, activities, and more.

The event also features a salsa competition to determine the best salsa in the region as well as a watermelon eating contest. This is in addition to the many food vendors that will be on site for the day. Also, a stage will be set up featuring live music with headliner the Tin Man Band. The evening will end with a fireworks display set to music.

The Liberty by the Lake Festival will be held on July 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Stewart Creek Park, located at 3700 Sparks Rd. Admission is free to the public though activities like rides and games require tickets or wristbands.
