Ground-breaking takes place for Westin Tempe

Ground was recently broken for the Westin Tempe, located in downtown Tempe.

Attending the ceremony were Mark Mitchell, mayor of Tempe; Christopher Beavor, founder of hotel developer CAI Investments; Tiffany Cooper, Vice President of Lodging Development for Marriott International, Inc.; and Darin Sender of Sender Associates.

The hotel will be 18 stories high and will have 290 rooms, all of which will be state-of-the-art, with artwork and other elements that are custom-designed, including carpeting, furniture, and wall coverings. There will be generous counter space and enhanced lighting in the bathrooms.

Amenities include a restaurant, coffee outlet, pool lounge on the roof, and its signature fitness studio. Convention and meeting space taking up 14,000 square feet of the hotel is designed to be draw in a range of events. In addition, there will be five premium deluxe suites on the 17th floor.

Another attraction of the hotel is its location. It is within walking distance of Sun Devil Stadium, a 10-minute drive to the spring training stadium of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and sits amid the campus of Arizona State University.

The hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of next year.
