Tacoma run to feature zombie-themed fun

A zombie horde has been spotted heading towards the Tacoma area, but there is no need to worry as it is all in good fun.

The Association for the United States Army’s (AUSA) Captain Meriwether Lewis Chapter will be hosting its 5th annual Zombie Apocalypse 5k. The race will see runners navigating a 3.1-mile course while trying to avoid becoming the zombies’ next victim.

The runners in the event will be get a belt to wear that has three flags. If they make it to the finish line with one flag or more, they will have survived the “zombie apocalypse”. Each person who registers to participate will be given a specially designed race T-shirt as well as a variety of other swag. They will also receive a two year AUSA membership and have their name entered in a prize draw.

In addition to the run, there will be food trucks on site, as well as an assortment of vendors. The public can have their pictures taken with the zombies, and the proceeds from the occasion will be used to help provide both educational and recreational opportunities for soldiers and members of their family. A printer in the area can supply a variety of promotional products that can be used as swag for a fundraiser like this.

This morning of frightening fun will be taking place on May 12 in Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. The AUSA’s website includes more information about the occasion.
