Summer celebration planned near Tacoma

Tacoma residents who are looking for some free family fun next month may wish to head to nearby Lakewood to enjoy Summerfest, which will be filled with outdoor excitement for all ages.

This annual event, which attracts thousands to the local area each year, will offer a huge range of offerings for all ages. There will be an assortment of hands-on activities, a chance to try swinging on a trapeze, art to create, games and sports to play, yoga, a car show, a Kids Zone, and, when it gets dark, an outdoor movie will be shown.

Along with all of the activities, a wide assortment of food trucks will be parked on site, and there will also be a beer garden, free music, and other entertainment. Each person can pick up a special passport, and have it stamped at all of the different stations that will be set up, and they can then have their name entered to win one of the raffle prizes. A printer will be able to use graphic design to craft promotional products such as these.

Lakewood’s Summerfest has been planned for Fort Steilacoom Park on July 8 from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm. It is being offered to the public on a free-of-charge basis, and additional information has been made available on the Travel Tacoma website.
