River’s Edge Social open now

His background in real estate meant Aurel Bardho knew he had found the perfect spot to open a restaurant when Johnny Gitto’s, located on Chippewa, closed.

When someone asked him what he found perfect about the place, he said “everything.” Now the River’s Edge Social has taken over the former Gitto’s space in the Lindenwood Park neighborhood in St. Louis, and is celebrating with a soft opening.

The space has a large patio with both uncovered and covered areas. The dining room is spacious, served by a large kitchen, and the bar has its own room. A private room for special events can be found in the rear of the premises.

Bardho is Albanian and his chef, Phillip Paris, is Greek. Between them, they have created a Mediterranean-inspired menu with entrees such as paella, mussels in a basil-saffron-tomato broth, and mac ‘n cheese made with bone marrow.

Most entrees cost less than $16, as Bardho says he did not want to make the menu items too expensive. There are also items such as lamb burgers and Greek salads available, and the favorite baklava for dessert.

The restaurant began its soft opening on March 24, and held its grand opening early in April.

Businesses like this can begin building their name recognition if they distribute promotional products to their first customers to thank them for their custom.
