October 18, 2017 by

Hockey fans in St. Cloud, Minnesota recently raised their 12th Annual Wells Fargo Hockey Day Minnesota flag in celebration of the upcoming Hockey Day Minnesota.

This special day is run by Fox Sports North and the Minnesota Wild hockey team in celebration of the sport, with several high school level, college level, and national level hockey games.

St. Cloud State’s Hockey Coach Eric Rud made the following statement about the importance of Hockey Day Minnesota:

“Hockey Day Minnesota has become such a big deal. Last year we were on tape delay so we got a little taste of it, so when this news came out it was a big deal for the girls in our locker room and their families.”

Hockey Day Minnesota will be taking place on January 20, 2018 from 10:00 am to at least 10:00 pm. Some of the teams that will be competing include the boys from St. Cloud Cathedral, the women from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Games will be taking place at an outdoor rink at Lake George and proceeds raised at the event will go towards funding youth hockey programs in St. Cloud.

The full schedule, more information about the event, and special merchandise such as jerseys and custom drinkware can all be found on the Minnesota Wild website.
