Credit union raises money for St. Louis area charity

Friends of Kids with Cancer was recently presented a check for $10,000 by First Community Credit Union, which provides resources and support to families with children who have cancer in the St. Louis and Metropolitan areas, including St. Ann.

Employees of First Community were able to wear jeans to work during the work weeks of Christmas and New Year in exchange for which they contributed a monetary donation. Glenn Barks, CEO and President of First Community, said that employees were very happy to support this organization, which has been so helpful in the St. Louis area as exemplified in the amount of money raised during the month.

Last year, First Community was able to raise over $45,000 with matching donations from corporations and businesses, with these funds going to several national and local organizations. However, all the money raised for Friends of Kids with Cancer through events, grants, and donations will remain in St. Louis and the surrounding communities.

Friend of Kids with Cancer will also be holding two more fundraising events in the upcoming months. On February 17, the Masquerade Ball will be held for the fifth consecutive year, and a Trivia Night will be held on March 12.

Flyers are often used to publicize such fundraising efforts and highlight the causes being supported by them.
