Boutique cycling fitness concept to open outside of St. Louis

Bob Koplar of Koplar Properties is planning to open a new concept in fitness with Steel Wheels, just outside of St. Louis.

Residents in nearby St. Ann are sure to want to travel to the facility to take advantage of this indoor cycling experience set against a wall-sized screen.

The facility will be 5,000 square feet in size, with renovations to begin soon so it can open sometime during the winter.

Classes will take place in a dark room filled with high-energy music, but the cyclists will see in front of them music videos, original videos of visual effects, and dramatic scenery, which will be projected on a high-definition projection screen above them. Koplar says the idea behind this concept is to fight potential boredom among the cyclists.

He added that other cycling classes focus on different moves that can be done on a bike to make them more interesting, but he wanted to stay true to cycling and he felt the videos satisfied the goal of stimulating interest. Instructors will be certified in his unique program of fitness.

Koplar is also planning specialty rides, such as a Beatles music themed ride, and trips through South Africa, Scandinavia, and the Tour de France. Another possible ride would be a patriotic ride for July 4 next year, for which holiday cards could be used to attract people to his fitness center.
