Spartanburg hosting first Restaurant Week

January 2, 2018 by

The South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association is organizing the inaugural Spartanburg Restaurant Week for chefs and restaurateurs to be held later this month.

Executive vice president of the Spartanburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chris Jennings, said that previously, some Spartanburg and Greenville restaurants had worked together to create an Upstate Restaurant Week. Recently many restaurateurs in the city have expressed interest in having their own special week.

Featured during the week will be limited-time discounts, promotions, and special menus at a fixed retail price at such restaurants as steakhouses and barbeque joints.

Executive vice-president of the Downtown Development Partnership of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, Jansen Tidmore, said the city has a wide range of dining options to offer people for all kinds of occasions.

Director of communications with the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association, Katie Montgomery, said that a benefit of the week for many restaurants is that it is taking place during a time that is typically slower for the industry – it also provides an opportunity for restaurants to try out pricing options and new menu items.

Spartanburg Restaurant Week will be held from January 11 through January 21. Organizations like the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association might consider poster printing to attract people to special events like this and serve to promote the restaurants as well.
