Trendy grocery store Trader Joe’s has finally arrived in San Antonio. The chain celebrated the grand opening of its first Alamo City location on Friday, November 2, in its usual style – handing out Hawaiian leis to shoppers and providing plenty of free samples.

The store is located at the corner of East Basse Road and Jones-Maltsberger and is a very welcome addition to the supermarket scene here. Previouslt, fans of the chain have been driving as far as Dallas or Houston to shop in their favorite store.

Trader Joe’s is known for its low prices and also for the unusual foodstuffs it sells. It makes deals with suppliers all over the world and imports many goods from Europe. It focuses much of its attention on natural and organic foods and also boasts a large wine section, including the popular Charles Shaw wine known to fans everywhere as ‘Two Buck Chuck’.

Opening day shoppers spent their time looking for the unusual products and specialty items for which Trader Joe’s is famous and snagged some great deals along the way. Aside from the Two Buck Chuck, among the favorites found by shoppers is ‘Speculoos Cookie Butter’, which consists of cookies mashed into a paste.

Shoppers also admired Trader Joe’s décor, which includes murals of such San Antonio landmarks as the Mission Trail and the Alamo. The new store’s hours are 8:00 am – 9:00 pm daily.

For any store still in its early stages, poster printing and flyer printing could be used to help drum up business and publicity in the area.
