Richardson’s 21st annual Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival coming this May

From its humble beginnings as a modest community event, Richardson’s Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, for which tickets have been confirmed to be on sale in a matter of months, has expanded to become a musical extravaganza featuring multiple performance stages, dozens of nationally known artists, and over 60,000 attendees.

Named “Best of the Fests” by D Magazine, the Wildflower! Festival includes local and national acts from genres including R&B, classic rock, funk, Texas blues, pop, folk, Americana, and alt-rock. It is the ideal place for those interest in live concert-going, marveling at the agility of acrobats and the skill of street performers, testing their mettle in artistic competitions, or simply indulging in a penchant for commemorative poster printing.

From May 17 – 19, Richardson’s Galatyn Park Urban Center will be the scene of nightly live band entertainment spread across six stages, including the north Texas native group The Toadies. A variety of local rock groups will be featured at the Bud Light stage, and a dedicated Singer-Songwriter stage will host a songwriting contest and seminar. Additional contests include a budding talent vocals contest, a battle of the bands, and a local student art competition.

Additional diversions are in good supply, with a guitar art auction, a Game Zone for the console crowd, a Kidz Korner for the tykes, and a Performance Row with gymnastic and dance routines. For the athletically inclined, the Methodist Richardson Medical Center is sponsoring a WildRide!/WildRun! charity event to benefit cancer research.

Tickets will go on sale April 15 at local Tom Thumb stores or via the website.
