Fundraising and “all that jazz” for Katy ISD foundation

Later this month, the Carla Helmbrecht Quintet will be featured at “Jazz With A Katy Flair”, hosted by the Katy Independent School District (ISD) Education Foundation as its fundraiser.

At Palacio Maria, a popular event venue in Katy, Jazz With a Katy Flair will start with a reception at, with dinner following an hour later. The event is a prelude to the Katy Jazz Festival and benefits the Katy ISD Foundation’s ‘Inspiring Imagination’ teacher grant program.

Now in its third year of operation, almost $300,000 has been awarded by the foundation to Katy ISD teachers. A goal of $1,000,000 in awards for innovative, inspiring classroom projects has been set for the next five years.

Two similarly named events such as The Katy Jazz Festival and the Jazz with a Katy Flair fundraiser, held so close together, can lead to confusion in the public’s mind. In a situation such as this, a banner printing service employed to highlight each events venue can make things clearer.

The Katy Jazz Festival takes place April 24-25 at Katy High School with an assortment of jazz performances, a visual arts exhibit, master classes, and jazz related items for sale. The Jazz With a Katy Flair event takes place on April 23, and admission is $75 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Katy ISD Education Foundation website.
