Houston celebrates the 24th BBQ and Chili Cook-off

January 21, 2013 by

The 24th Annual Cook-off will take place this weekend at Traders Village. The Houston Metro Go Texan Committee Cypress Fairbanks is the official sponsor for the cook-off and promises an exciting and hot experience. Those seeking spicy chili, finger-licking barbecue ribs, chicken, and brisket will want to be at the cook-off. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will be the beneficiary of the proceeds.

Specialty dishes, including Jackpot Chili and Pinto Beans, fajitas, and junior chili will be featured in Saturday’s competitions. Sunday will bring chicken, brisket, and port ribs into the competition. Trophies for the top three places will be awarded for each food category, as well as one each for master cook and best pit.

Events involving food competitions frequently call upon printing companies to produce specially designed materials to promote the event. Signage is very important, as is banner printing. Banners highlight specific competitors, areas, vendors, and other designated attractions. They can be hung high up in the air, across the back of a booth, or in front of a table found within the vendor or cook’s area.

Traders Village, the large Gulf Coast event complex, can accommodate more than 1,000 dealers or vendors at most events. Used routinely for the huge flea market events in Houston, Traders Village can lend itself to almost any type of event, such as the cook-offs.
