The 2013 Houston Rodeo will kick off February 25 and will go through March 17. They have scheduled a phenomenal roster of top name entertainment and rodeo competitions throughout the event.

Internationally well-known music arts include Toby Keith, George Strait, Demo Lovato, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, the Randy Rogers Band and Martina McBride.

The event will begin with a parade, with Texas football stars Andre Johnson and J.J. Watt serving as grand marshals. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on February 25 in downtown Houston. Hundreds of rodeo stars and trail riders complete with their horses will participate in the parade.

The world’s largest livestock rodeo event, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is comprised of sixteen thousand volunteers with expected attendance exceeding two million visitors.

Combining a strong sense of balance and unwavering control, bareback riding is a highlight of the rodeo. The rider has one hand tied behind his or her back gripping the leather handhold tied behind the horse’s front legs and must ride the bucking bronco for at least eight seconds. As the rider comes from the chute, his or her feet must be above the horses’ shoulder until the horse’s feet hit the ground. The rider must not touch the horse at any time with his free hand. Scoring by the judge is based on the rider’s positioning on the horse and ability to adjust to the horse’s action. Technique is a key component of the judging process.

Expect to see lots of printed materials advertising the rodeo on the run up to it; flyer and poster printing are used to generate interest and increase the attendance at such events.
