US Memory Care is to start building new facilities in Texas, with one building to be located in Cedar Park and the other in Southwest Houston. The facilities will be the fourth and fifth memory care units in the Texas area and it is hoped that the facilities will be open in 2014.

The first Memory Care facility recently opened its doors in suburban Dallas. The coast of building the new center at Cedar Park is expected to be around $14m. The facilities are treatment centers for patients who have Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Plans have been released by US Memory Care to open a further 20 communities during the coming three years in the southern area of the US. At the start of 2013, construction began on two other facilities which are to be located in Dallas, in northwest Houston and North Dallas. According to officials of US Memory Care, the centers provide an environment for upmarket residents, with three “neighborhoods” to meet the needs of all residents. Officials also say that it is crucial to keep residents in the secure neighborhoods apart if they are at different stages of dementia.

The secure neighborhoods permit secure yet independent living and may offer some degree of comfort to relatives coping with the decision-making process. Local brochure printers will make necessary changes to literature of the centers to include new facilities as they are being constructed. The mission of US Memory Care is to change the lives of those coping with dementia and related illness.
