Marcella Fruehan, a resident of Allen in Texas won eight awards during the Indie Music Channel Awards held in Los Angeles recently.

Fruehan, 17, walked away highly decorated, with awards given out to her for both being the best performer and having the best album in her age group. Although Marcella was originally shocked at winning an award, she was amazed when her name was announced a further seven times.

The ‘Video of the Year’ award was presented to honor her video ‘Truth Is’, which tackles the difficult subject of teen bullying and how it effects people in that age group. The video is set to achieve worldwide fame.

The award show is hosted by the Indie Music Channel every year to recognize outstanding talent and achievements of independent bands and singers from all over the world. The channel is responsible for discovering more than 8,000 artists, boasting around 50,000 videos and songs between them. Although the Indie Music Channel is recognized around the world, local print companies become involved in the promotion of awards ceremonies, increasing awareness among artists and guests at the event.

There were more than 500 artists from around the world at the awards event, which included some of the top independent producers, all wanting to hear the artists perform live over the weekend. Marcella is getting ready for her ‘Truth Is’ tour around the US and the UK, which will feature all her hits while addressing the topic of teen suicide and bullying.
