Run with the Roosters in Tucson

June 30, 2012 by

On Sunday, July 8, Tucson residents can take part in the Run with the Roosters, a 5K race starting at Old Tucson Studios located at 201 S. Kinney Road in Tucson, Arizona. This event begins at 5:10 am with all roads on the run closing at 4:50 am, so interested races are advised to come early if they need to park.

The Run with the Roosters event is a five-mile run/walk, starting very early to beat the summer heat. It starts and finishes at the Old Tucson Studios. Late registration and suggested packet pickup takes place on Saturday, July 7 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, unless you are coming in from out of town, in which case it will be on the day of the run between 3:45 am and 4:50 am.

The route will be closed to traffic and tours in a southerly direction on scenic Kinney Road, beside the beautiful Tucson Mountain Parkway, before entering into the Ironwood Picnic Ground and looping back onto Kinney Road to the finishing destination. Freebies and handouts on offer included a “Tech” shirt, a Mexican breakfast, Robeks smoothies, a slip ‘n slide finish, snow cones, lots of prizes, runner photos, age group awards. This event is always open to walkers as well, with awards for top three placements. The race must be completed by 6:45, as the road re-opens to traffic at that time.

Flyer printing and postcard printing may have been used to promote this event to members and the public. For more information on registration or the event itself, please visit the Run with the Roosters website or call 520-797-7867.
