Tempe Symphony Orchestra lets Winter Concert breeze in

February 15, 2014 by

Classical music lovers are invited to the Tempe Symphony Orchestra: Winter Concert later this month.

The main feature will be music by Mozart, most notably ‘Serenede Nr. 13 in G – Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’. Singing groups from around the area will also be performing with the orchestra, and these include Red Mountain Community College, the Cantilena, and Sun Valley Chorale and the Arizona Deseret Choir.

The Tempe Symphony Orchestra is owned and operated by the city of Tempe (Library & Cultural Services Division). Its members are people from the local area who volunteer their time to provide cultural performances for those in the Phoenix area. The orchestra (conducted by Doug Akey), as part of its mission to bring the arts to the masses, performs three times each year.

As part of the Winter Concert, the orchestra will also be performing the famed ‘Requiem in D Minor’. Those who plan to attend, or who would simply like to further the cause of the orchestra, may wish to contract with local printing companies to have flyer or banner printing done for advertising purposes.

The Winter Concert will be held Monday, February 17, at 9:00 pm, at the Tempe Center for the Arts in Tempe, Arizona. Admission is free, though tickets are limited, and it’s advisable to arrive early to ensure seating.
