Mesa area revving up for Memorial Day Weekend fun

May 16, 2013 by

Residents of Mesa and other nearby communities are invited to come out and join hundreds of local motorcyclists to show their support for the American military.

In just over one week’s time, the city will be participating in the Third Annual Memorial Day Ride and Salute to Service BBQ Challenge. Banner printing is likely in higher demand as the organizers of this event prepare for the day’s activities.

The celebration will kick off with a motorcycle ride that starts at the Sanderson Ford dealership in Glendale. At least 500 bikers will travel to Chester’s Harley-Davidson franchise in Mesa, where they will join the general public for more festivities.

Those who arrive at Chester’s will enjoy live entertainment from local bands, and will be able to purchase a variety of snacks and drinks. A bonus feature of the party will be a barbecue contest, during which chefs from across the nation will prepare dishes of chicken, pork, and other meats for attendees to sample.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Military Assistance Mission (MAM), which supports active members of the armed forces and their spouses and children.

The motorcycle ride and festival will both begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25. Bikers will gain access to all of the fun by paying a registration fee of $30. For those who only plan to attend the bash in Mesa, the cost will be $10 per ticket. Those hoping to register for the ride or receive additional information may call (602)696-4646.
